Kenneth Hawkey

about the artist

Kenneth Hawkey has lived in Truro, Massachusetts since 1991 and has been painting and exhibiting for more than 25 years. Earlier careers as a graphic artist, scenic artist, book designer and garden designer have all played parts in his creative process over the years.

\"Nothing is more inspiring than what I see and encounter every day. Painting my environment makes the landscape and the human facets included in the landscape part of my creative record. My still-lifes include those things that are part of my experience as well, yet arranged to create their own story.”

Kenneth continues to paint with both oils and acrylics, enjoying both mediums and the different ways of working with them. Canvas and masonite panels are used, each offering different qualities to both the process and the result.

In addition to his many landscapes, Kenneth also paints still-lifes, florals and draws or paints an occasional figure or portrait.\"Still-lifes are a great way to garner experience when looking for a challenging subject. One can create the still-life scene without worry of wind, rain or changing light!\"
