Peter loves to create paintings that are bathed in striking light and bright colors. He selects his subjects and waits for that special moment when the light is magical. The results are beautiful, sensitive depictions of places we have always watched, but never truly “seen.” Cape Cod landscapes, wild animals, figures, and portraits are his favorite subjects.
He is equally at ease painting with oils, acrylics and pastels. His diverse works range from finely-detailed figures to loosely-painted impressionistic landscapes.
He learned portrait painting by training with renowned portrait artists Cedric and Joanette Egeli, John Kilroy, and Robert Hertz. His understanding of color comes mainly from the traditions of The Cape Cod School of Arts and teachers like Lois Griffel, Carol Wescott, and Salvatore DelDeo.
Peter was born in Cuba and now divides his time between Truro, and Jupiter, Florida. He is also an accomplished teacher and a member of the faculty at the Lighthouse Center for the Arts in Florida, and The Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill in Truro. His solo exhibits include the Hibel Museum of Art, Palm Beach Gardens Council on the Art, and the Truro Public Library. He is represented by Cortile Gallery in Provincetown, and by Covent Garden Fine Arts Gallery in Ontario, Canada.
